Athens Print Fest/ Second Edition–Plan B, the second edition of the International Festival of Engraving and Printmaking, organized by the City of Athens Culture, Sports and Youth Organization (OPANDA) and the Greek Printmakers’ Association with the support of the Hellenic Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports under the auspices of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO, will take place at various city locations from October 1 to October 28, 2012.

This international art festival, the sole of its kind in Greece, will be held in Athens. Its goal is not only to focus on current Greek engraving through the proposals and various possibilities offered by contemporary engraving but also to scrutinize the evolution of the art on an international level. It is a meeting of cultural organizations with an emphasis on engraving and printmaking, with new and innovative works of art from Greece and abroad, with the objective of creating an international artistic discourse regarding the concerns and pursuits of contemporary engraving on an esthetic as well as technical level.

Exhibitions, presentations, lectures, educational programs, and open artists’ workshops will be held during the festival.

Over 500 exhibits created by renowned Greek and foreign artists will be shown during this festival of engraving, which will feature exhibitions and other events. Apart from the Greek Printmakers’ Association, festival participants will include the Cervantes Institute, the Visual Artists Association of Northern Greece, the State Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki, the French Institute of Athens, Alpha Bank, the National Bank of Greece Cultural Foundation, the Athens School of Fine Arts, the Panagiotis Giannakos Cultural Foundation—Xotaris Gallery, the Applied and Visual Arts Department of the University of Western Macedonia, the Contemporary Greek Art Institute, the Numismatic Museum, Athens, the Museum of Greek Children’s Art, the Engraving Studio of the School of Visual and Applied Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Cypriot Engravers artistic society, the Dictum Factum Creative Group, the Embassy of Israel, Athens, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Athens, as well as groups of Greek and foreign Printmakers
